Munson Urges Patients and Out-of-Town Visitors to Plan Ahead for Delays Due to Traverse City Construction

03.18.2024

Munson Healthcare (MHC) is reminding residents and patients traveling from across the region to anticipate delays in Traverse City and plan accordingly as reconstruction of Grandview Parkway continues now through this fall.

“This construction work is front and center for those living in Traverse City, but it may not be for people coming from other communities,” said John Bolde, System Director of Safety and Security for Munson Healthcare. “We want emergency vehicles to arrive here safely and patients to get to their appointments on time with minimal inconvenience – that's why we are urging people to leave a little early and to review alternate routes.”

  • Munson wants to help people avoid having to reschedule an appointment and recommends using Eighth Street or South Airport Road to get to the Munson Medical Center campus, Copper Ridge Surgery Center, and other facilities on the west side of Traverse City.
  • The construction may also cause delays and back-ups on the east side of Traverse, something to keep in mind for those with an appointment or seeking urgent care services at Foster Family Community Health Center.

Detours and traffic patterns will be changing throughout this project that is estimated to be complete in November 2024. Segment 1 of the project between Garfield Road and Front Street, underway now, is anticipated to be finished by July with Segment 2 between Division and Front Street beginning after the National Cherry Festival, June 29-July 6.

Munson Healthcare will be providing ongoing updates through social media, e-newsletters, and appointment reminder text messages. More details and links to official resources are available at munsonhealthcare.org/grandview.
