Traverse City

Grandview Parkway Construction

Construction on Segment 1 of the Grandview Parkway construction project in Traverse City is now complete. Segment 2 is scheduled to begin after the National Cherry Festival and continue into November. Although traffic will not be dramatically rerouted as it was in Segment 1, the next phase is expected to result in traffic delays.

On July 8, construction will begin on Segment 2, which will rebuild over a mile of roadway from where Front Street meets Grandview (near Railroad Ave.) west to Division Street. Traffic will be reduced from four lanes to two (one lane in either direction), so extensive delays are expected.

The intersection of Grandview Parkway and Division is a major thoroughfare on the way to Munson Medical Center, as well as Cowell Family Cancer Center, Copper Ridge Surgery Center and other Munson Healthcare ambulatory clinics and administrative buildings.

  • Anyone scheduled to visit the Munson Medical Center area may experience longer than expected travel time.
  • Those traveling to the area should familiarize themselves with alternate east-west travel routes away from the construction area, including Eighth Street, Fourteenth Street, and South Airport Road.
  • Leelanau County residents in particular should consider avoiding M-72 and M-22 due to potential backups at peak travel times. Taking Cedar Run Road or Long Lake Road may be a better alternate route.
