Neurology and Neurosurgery

Munson Healthcare is home to an expert team of board-certified neurosurgeons and advanced practice providers, including specialty-trained nurses. For more than 50 years, Munson Healthcare has been committed to delivering high-quality neurosurgical care and positive health outcomes for the northern Michigan community.

Most neurosurgical services occur in Traverse City at Munson Medical Center. We also hold clinic hours in Cadillac, Grayling, and Prudenville so that you can schedule pre- and post-op appointments closer to home.

        

Neuro-oncology

Neuro-oncology is the study and treatment of cancers and neoplasms in the brain and spinal cord. Examples include astrocytoma, glioma, glioblastoma, muliforme, ependymoma, pontine glioma, and brain stem tumors. Trained oncologic neurosurgeons will treat these conditions by removing as much of the tumor mass as possible without harming vital functions or impairing cognitive abilities.

Justine Pearl, MD, is a board-certified specialist in neurosurgery. In addition to general neurosurgery, Dr. Pearl brings neuro-oncology expertise for the treatment of tumors, brain metastasis, gliomas, and more.

Dr. Pearl graduated from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and a fellowship in neurosurgical oncology from the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
