Our Practice Model
Munson Medical Center utilizes an integrated pharmacy practice model that combines clinical and operational responsibilities. Within this model, pharmacists are able to develop advanced expertise within specialized practice areas, while also maintaining an understanding of the operational systems that support safe and effective medication use throughout the organization.
This approach cultivates pharmacists who are skilled clinicians, effective interdisciplinary collaborators, and knowledgeable stewards of the medication-use process, preparing them to serve as advanced clinical specialists, educators, leaders, and innovators in pharmacy practice.

Clinical activities include multidisciplinary rounding, medication optimization, emergency response, anticoagulation management, antimicrobial stewardship, medication reconciliation, patient education, and drug information services.
Pharmacy services extend beyond inpatient care through programs that support transitions of care, medication access, and chronic disease management, including specialty pharmacy, home infusion, discharge pharmacy services, medication assistance programs, anticoagulation management, and medication therapy management.

Education is a cornerstone of our department. As a longstanding teaching site for Ferris State University, Munson Medical Center fosters a culture of mentorship, clinical growth, and lifelong learning.
Students and residents learn alongside experienced preceptors while developing as clinicians, educators, and leaders. Pharmacists are also encouraged to engage in research, quality improvement, medication safety initiatives, and practice advancement projects.
