Sharps Disposal at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center

Kalkaska County area residents with diabetes and other conditions that require home use of needles or other sharps materials are invited to dispose of their sharps waste at our Community Sharps Disposal Day. Proper disposal of sharps can prevent injury, infection, and pollution.

2024 Community Sharps Disposal Days

March 5:
2 - 4 pm

June 12:
8:30 - 10:30 am

September 17:
1:30 - 3:30 pm

December 4:
10 am - 12 pm

 

Sharps (needles, syringes, and lancets) will be accepted in these approved containers:

  • Heavy-duty plastic laundry detergent jug with tight-fitting lid
  • Medical sharps container
  • Metal or hard plastic coffee can with secure lid

Pills and liquids will not be accepted.

Never put sharps containers into recycling. Dispose of sharps containers when two-thirds full.
