Chemotherapy and Infusion Center
Our state-of-the-art Sarah M. Foster, MD Chemotherapy and Infusion Center is an important component of treating cancer close to home.
We designed the center with input from our Circle of Strength cancer support group and a patient focus group. The center is the result of input from cancer patients on what they needed for comfort and care during infusion treatments. Comfortable heated chairs recline, and are equipped with massage settings. Then there’s the view – the center overlooks the peaceful, healing waters of Lake Michigan.
In July 2014, our first chemotherapy patient finished her treatment. She had traveled to Chicago for a second opinion. Discouraged by the confirmation of her diagnosis, being away from home left her upset and unsettled. When she recounted the story weeks later, she remembered saying to the infusion staff, "I want to be with my people, and you're my people."
After her treatment she had this to say: “Charlevoix Hospital was great from the start. It was like home and the staff was like family."
