After the Birth of Your Child Several screenings will be performed to ensure your child’s health and safety after delivery. State Blood Screening The Michigan Department of Public Health requires all babies born in Michigan to have a blood test that checks for more than 40 metabolic disorders. If detected early, these disorders may be treated to prevent mental retardation or other serious problems. The blood sample is taken by heel stick 24 hours after birth and is repeated before your baby is discharged. Heart Screening This tests helps identify babies who may have a congenital heart defect

Salary and Benefits The PGY1 program is a full-time, fully-benefited employment position at Munson Medical Center. Residents are paid a competitive salary and are allowed (once trained) to pick up additional weekend shifts for full pharmacist hourly wages. Two weeks paid time off for vacation, sick time, or personal needs are afforded to the resident. Application Information Residency applicants must have graduated from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program and be eligible for State of Michigan licensure. The resident is expected to obtain licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Michigan within two months of starting the residency program.
