Munson Healthcare is pleased to welcome family medicine physicians Joanna Heindl, D.O. and Thomas Yax, M.D. to Milliken Medical Group, located at 224 Circle Drive in Traverse City, Mich.
Dr. Heindl graduated from medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a residency at the University of Michigan and is board certified in Family Medicine.
As a primary care physician, Dr. Heindl cares for the whole family with special interests in geriatrics, women’s health, and preventative care.
“I enjoy creating longitudinal relationships with my patients and their families. I strive to work collaboratively with patients and specialists to create an effective care plan,” Dr. Heindl said. She also teaches clinic at Munson Family Practice Residency in addition to being a family medicine physician.
In her free time, Dr. Heindl enjoys spending time outside with her husband, two daughters, and their wirehaired pointing griffon.
Dr. Yax graduated from medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He completed his residency at Munson Medical Center and is board certified in Family Medicine.
Dr. Yax chose to practice family medicine because he enjoys caring for patients of all ages.
“My favorite aspect of family medicine is being there to support my patients through the difficult times and being there to celebrate the triumphs,” he said. In addition to being a family medicine physician, Dr. Yax teaches clinic and hospital medicine at Munson Family Practice Residency.
Dr. Yax is married to his wife, who practices veterinary medicine. Together they have three children and several pets.
