Empire Family Care Offers Sports Physicals

06.18.2019

Sports physicals for school-aged athletes will be offered on July 19 and July 24 at Empire Family Care.

Empire Family Care physicians will perform a standard sports physical examination for $20 on these two days.

“Sports physicals are not only required, but are an important step in ensuring the safety of our youngest athletes. They help determine whether it’s safe for an adolescent to participate in their chosen sport and identify medical conditions that could be detrimental to their health,” said Cyrus Ghaemi, D.O., Empire Family Care. “It also provides valuable time to discuss important issues such as healthy eating habits and the importance of utilizing safety equipment.”

As part of the physical, Empire physical therapists will also provide free baseline concussion testing. This testing allows medical professionals to better diagnose and treat head injuries, should they occur, and ensure safe return to play. Whether the athlete is participating in school sports or other activities, such as skiing, hockey, horseback riding, or motocross, it is recommended that they receive baseline testing every two years and be retested if a traumatic brain injury (concussion) does occur.

Appointments may be scheduled by calling 231-835-2088.

Empire Family Care physicians Cyrus A. Ghaemi, D.O., and Kathryn F. Krezoski-Evans, D.O., provide primary care for children and adults. The office is located at 9975 W. Ottawa Ave. in Empire.
