Kevin J. Harris, M.D., recently joined Munson Healthcare as a board-certified specialist in general surgery who is sub-specialty trained in bariatric surgery.
Dr. Harris graduated from medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and a fellowship in bariatric surgery with Advanced Laparoscopic Surgical Associates in Fresno, Calif.
Dr. Harris' favorite part of being a surgeon is the ability to improve the lives of his patients.
"I chose to practice surgery because I am able to work with both my head and my hands to help others," Dr. Harris said. Research shows bariatric surgery can add years to a patient's life expectancy, prevent heart attacks, strokes, many kinds of cancer, and liver disease, and potentially cure diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea.
In his free time, Dr. Harris enjoys hiking, backpacking, and tandem biking with his wife Katie and dog Murphy.
