Munson Medical Center Receives ‘A’ Grade from Leapfrog
11.14.2023

Munson Medical Center (MMC) received an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group for Fall 2023 marking the fifth straight time it’s received recognition at this level.

MMC is one of 24 hospitals in the state of Michigan to receive an “A” grade this fall and among just 6 percent of hospitals nationwide who have consistently met that mark since fall 2021. Munson Medical Center Interim President Kathy Laraia applauded the patient-centered focus and strong ongoing efforts by staff and providers that resulted in another top grade.

“This is a recognition of our Healthcare Team’s daily work to provide the safest, very best level of care to our patients,” she said. “We are grateful for the dedication and professionalism that has helped MMC continuously receive high marks for safety and quality from Leapfrog over the last two years.”

Nationally, only 30 percent of hospitals achieved an “A” with Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital also among the group.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog group that examines hospital quality and safety, assigning an A, B, C, D, and F grade based on how safe the facility is for patients.

The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Grade was developed under the guidance of a national panel and national measures of safety, quality, and efficiency.

The hospital safety grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed with results that are free and accessible to the public.
