3D mammograms include a series of low-dose X-rays that, together, create a 3D image that makes detection much easier. This latest mammogram technology improves detection of small breast cancers by as much as 30%. and reduces the need for further imaging—often caused by denser breast tissue (the cause for about half of women) and/or new, changing, or questionable tissue.
If you’ve had a mammogram before, the 3D imaging process is the same—3D mammograms simply take more detailed images.
