Debra HendersonDebra Henderson, MSHC, President, Munson Healthcare Foundations

Debra Henderson serves as President for Munson Healthcare Foundations and Chief Development Officer for Munson Healthcare. Prior to joining Munson Healthcare in 2013, she worked for The American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association, raising more than $25 million to support disease research, risk awareness, and public health advocacy.

Debra relocated to Traverse City from Charlotte, NC. She holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing and psychology from the University of North Carolina and a Master of Science degree in health communications from Boston University.

In her spare time, Debra enjoys tennis, cooking, traveling, and hiking through all the amazing trails in Traverse City.

John Gower

John Gower, CFRE, Manager, Stewardship and Annual Giving

John Gower serves as the Manager of Stewardship and Annual Giving for Munson Healthcare Foundations. Prior to joining the Foundations in 2017, John spent 10 years as a professional with the Boy Scouts of America in central Indiana and throughout Michigan, focusing on fundraising, membership recruitment, and volunteer engagement.

John resides in Traverse City with his wife and two young children. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in integrative public relations and recreation, parks & leisure services administration from Central Michigan University. John is also credentialed as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).

Outside of work, John especially enjoys running, camping, hiking, and traveling with his family.

Heather Appold, Charitable Giving Officer - East Region

Heather Appold serves as a Charitable Giving Officer for Munson Healthcare Foundations, focusing her efforts on Charlevoix, Grayling, and Otsego Memorial Hospitals. Originally from Hemlock, MI and a graduate of Central Michigan University, Heather relocated to Gaylord several years ago. Her early professional years were spent in Saginaw, most recently as Covenant Kids Coordinator raising funds for pediatric patients.

Heather has volunteered through the years with Special Olympics Michigan and is a graduate of the Michigan Firefighters Academy. Heather lives in Gaylord with her husband and son. Her family loves the outdoors, board games and traveling down state to see family and friends. She is excited to reside in the region and looking forward to exploring the lakes and trails.

Emma BelanEmma Belan, Donor Stewardship and Outreach Coordinator

Emma Belan serves as the Donor Stewardship and Outreach Coordinator for Munson Healthcare Foundations. A native of Traverse City, Emma combines her passions for writing and her hometown to inspire healthcare philanthropy in northern Michigan’s communities. She graduated summa cum laude from Adrian College in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in English writing and journalism. 

Emma enjoys swimming, hiking, reading, rock hunting, and spending time with her friends and family in her free time. 

Kim BiddingerKim Biddinger, CFRE, Leadership Giving Officer - East Region

Kim Biddinger is a Leadership Giving Officer for Munson Healthcare Foundations, focusing her efforts on Charlevoix, Grayling and Otsego Memorial Hospitals. She has raised funds for Otsego Memorial Hospital since 2010 and is passionate about connecting donors to causes they care about. Kim was instrumental in raising over $4 million for the "Building the Future of Local Healthcare" capital campaign which includes the hospital's largest gift, naming the Dale E. Johnson Emergency Department. 

Prior to joining Otsego Memorial Hospital Foundation, Kim focused her career on business development and public relations in the greater Detroit area within the legal community. She is credentialed as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and holds certificates in Non-Profit Executive Leadership and Fund Raising Management from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. 

Kim serves on the board of the Indian River Chamber of Commerce and serves as president of the Gaylord Booster Club. While not in the office, Kim enjoys attending her son and daughter's soccer games, skiing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  

John GowerTom Hardy, Leadership Giving Officer - Cadillac, Frankfort, Manistee, and Traverse City

Tom Hardy serves as a Leadership Giving Officer for Munson Healthcare Foundations focusing on Cadillac, Frankfort, Manistee and Traverse City areas. Prior to joining the Foundations, he spent nearly 18 years in the field of education working in communities throughout northern Michigan on fundraising, student development, and fair play. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and business administration from Hope College.

Tom, who is a life-long resident of Traverse City, and his wife, Betsy, have a long history with Munson Healthcare as Betsy and all five of their children were born at Munson Medical Center. In his free time, Tom can be found on the water fishing, sailing, or in the stands cheering on his children. 

Courtney MulderCourtney Mulder, Charitable Giving Officer - Cadillac, Frankfort, and Manistee

Courtney Mulder is the Charitable Giving Officer for Cadillac, Manistee, and Paul Oliver Memorial Hospitals. She has been associated with Cadillac Hospital since 2013.

Courtney is a Lake City native and lives there today with her husband and three young sons. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing and sales from Central Michigan University. Courtney currently serves as the vice-chair for the Cadillac Area Young Professionals Board.

Most of her free time is spent with her family on their pontoon boat in the summer and staying at their family cabin. She also enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with friends, and watching movies at home.

Amy PetersonAmy Peterson, Grants Administration Officer

Amy Peterson serves as the Grants Officer for Munson Healthcare. She has been with Munson Healthcare since 2015 and is responsible for state and federal grants throughout the Munson Healthcare system. Amy works with federal funders like HRSA, SAMHSA, CDC and the USDA as well as the State of Michigan.

Amy relocated to Traverse City after living in the Detroit area and has a PhD in medical sociology and a master’s degree in health communication, both from Wayne State University. Amy came to Traverse City from the Karmanos Cancer Institute, where she managed NIH funded research studies.

Amy is a long-time volunteer with Camp Catch-a-Rainbow, a camping program for 7 to 15-year-olds with cancer and is a volunteer wish granter for Make-a-Wish Michigan. Amy lives in Traverse City with her husband and two young daughters. She loves biking, hiking, and enjoying the Grand Traverse region with friends and family.

john ramsburghJohn Ramsburgh, Leadership Giving Officer

John Ramsburgh serves as a Leadership Giving Officer for Munson Healthcare Foundations. Previously, John worked as a fundraiser for the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. He has a graduate degree in English Literature from U-M and experience in grant writing, communications, and environmental advocacy. 

John’s wife Carolyn is a nurse who works on the Stroke Telemetry Unit at Munson Medical Center. They have two daughters, a dog, and a cat. The family loves board games, cooking, and exploring northern Michigan.  

Abbie RobinsonAbbie Robinson, Charitable Giving Specialist - Direct Mail and Digital Outreach

Abbie Robinson is a creative professional who brings a diverse set of skills ranging from traditional storytelling to digital marketing to her role as Charitable Giving Specialist. She earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts in integrative public relations, journalism, and leadership from Central Michigan University's Honors College.

Abbie enjoys many creative pursuits outside of the office, including photography, reading, cooking, and trick training with her dog. She is a self-proclaimed "Mitten Enthusiast" and loves to kayak, camp, and hike throughout the state.

Tami StanleyTami Stanley, Leadership Giving Associate - Frankfort, Manistee, Traverse City

After working the past five years for a retirement community foundation and studying with the Prospect Research Institute, Tami Stanley brings her experience to her role as Leadership Giving Associate in Major Giving. Tami meets with philanthropic individuals across northern Michigan who have an interest in fulfilling and expanding Munson Healthcare's mission and vision. 

By using her skills in executive administration, customer service, and project planning administration, she will help to support the Foundation's team, board, and volunteer committees. Most of all, she believes in giving back and has a strong belief that everyone deserves quality health care in the communities where they live. 

Tami and her family have recently fulfilled a dream of moving to Manistee, Michigan. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading a good book, playing her flute, painting, and sailing. 

Kira WalkupKira Walkup, Events Specialist

Kira Walkup manages fundraising events across the Munson Healthcare system and serves as a community liaison for third-party fundraising activities and events. She brings an extensive background in project management and strategic planning to her role. Before joining the Foundations team, Kira worked with Munson Healthcare Home Health & Hospice. 

Kira earned a Bachelor of Arts in organizational communication from Central Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University. Kira and her husband relocated to Traverse City from the Detroit area and have two daughters. 

Kira is passionate about giving back to her community and does volunteer coaching work with youth organizations including Girls on the Run and Battle of the Books. She and her family enjoy spending time outdoors in northern Michigan as well as travel, music, theater, art, and great food.

Tracy Wittkopp is a Charitable Giving Analyst for Munson Healthcare Foundations, dedicating her time to data analysis and strategy for annual and mid-level giving. Tracy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a Minor in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Grand Valley State University. Prior to joining the Foundations in 2010, she worked in politics for the Michigan House of Representatives.

Tracy is a Leelanau County native and currently lives in Maple City with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. She is an active member of the Traverse City Young Professionals and a past officer of the Traverse City Chapter of the Grand Valley State University Alumni Club. In her free time, Tracy enjoys gardening, camping, and hiking with her family.

Kelsey ZarycznyKelsey Zaryczny, Charitable Giving Analyst - Major Giving

Kelsey Zaryczny is a Charitable Giving Analyst for Munson Healthcare Foundations, focusing her efforts on donor discovery and behavior analysis in major giving. She has spent her entire career working with nonprofits in Michigan.

Kelsey and her husband relocated to Traverse City several years ago after living in West Michigan. She holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and political science from Western Michigan University and a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University. 

Outside of work, Kelsey and her husband own and manage a local wedding venue and snow tubing business. In her spare time, she enjoys collecting rocks from northern Michigan’s many pristine beaches, tending to her perennial gardens, and relaxing at home with her pets.
