Critical Access Top Hospital 2016Charlevoix HospitalMunson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital is a 25-bed facility that has served Charlevoix County and the surrounding area for nearly 100 years. As part of the nine-hospital Munson Healthcare system, it provides convenient, close-to-home inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital is consistently recognized for exceptionally high patient, physician, and staff satisfaction and was recently named one of the Top 100 critical access hospitals in the nation.

Outpatient Rehabilitation

Charlevoix Hospital is renovating and enlarging its Outpatient Rehabilitation unit. The new, enlarged design will provide more patient privacy and adequate room for staff to complete their work, as well as address supply and storage needs.

Cardiac Rehab patients will have a designated, private space to provide personal health information and prepare for exercise monitoring. More space in the exercise facility will allow better access for patients using wheelchairs and walkers, greatly improving patient safety.

A larger Occupational Therapy treatment room will double the number of patients that can be treated at one time. A new multi-purpose room will include kitchen space and will be used by all therapy groups, especially those in the hospital’s swing bed program, and for heart-healthy food and cooking demonstrations.

Estimated total cost is $400,000.

The Innovation Fund at Charlevoix Hospital is used to fund new equipment, such as:

  • Two new blood analyzers in our laboratory, which are critical to lab function. These cutting-edge analyzers will be more accurate and will dramatically shorten the wait time for results. Cost: $60,000 each
  • A state-of-the-art orthopedic Hana® table allows a less invasive approach to total hip replacement surgery, resulting in faster healing and recovery.  Cost: $80,000
  • A cardiovascular ultrasound machine with enhanced diagnostic capabilities provides improved results. Cost: $120,000
  • Saebo rehabilitation therapy assists patients suffering from a neurological condition, such as a stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis or muscular dystrophy. These therapy devices improve patient mobility and functional use of arms and legs, allowing patients to regain independence and the self-sufficiency for personal tasks and activities. Cost: $25,000
