Support Grayling Hospital

Grayling HospitalRural & Community Top Hospital 2017Grayling Hospital has provided high quality health care to Crawford, Roscommon, and Oscoda counties since 1911. This 71-bed community hospital was named one of the best rural hospitals in Michigan in 2017. It offers a full range of inpatient

and outpatient services and is continuously expanding and evolving to meet the needs of its growing community.

Patient Diagnostic Center

The pre-surgical process involves multiple steps and typically takes two to three weeks. With a new diagnostic center, the pre-surgical process will be much faster. The time patients spend in observation care will be cut in half, dramatically improving the patient experience.

The Patient Diagnostic Center must be equipped with a Zoll R Series ALS Defibrillator and Universal Line Crash Cart. Cost of the defibrillator and crash cart is $20,000.

Diagnostic chairs are needed to enhance patient comfort and care. Capital Recliner chairs allow the patient to receive care and testing and be seen for observation in a private area without the use a hospital room. Each chair costs $5,000. Total cost of the equipment listed above is $55,000.

Crawford Continuing Care Center

Crawford Continuing Care Center is a 39-bed, long-term care facility that also offers short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care. Of the 39 beds, about 15 are used for short-term rehab, while the rest are used by residents who this center their home.

In order to continue providing high-level care and a comfortable home for residents, we need generous partners who understand the importance of maintaining a high quality long-term care facility in the Grayling community.

The bathing room at the center needs a patient lift to aid in moving our patients. A “sit-to-stand lift” is also ideal for staff to help patients with common tasks such as toilet visits, hand washing, and changing clothes. Crawford Continuing Care Center needs donor support of $30,000 to help cover equipment and maintenance needs.

Maternal & Newborn Center

Nearly 380 babies are born each year at Grayling Hospital. The Maternal and Newborn Center must replace aging out-of-date fetal monitors, vital pieces of equipment used at birth, with two new GE Corometric 250 series EFMs to ensure safe care of infants. The cost of two wireless fetal monitors is $28,600.

Patient Needs

The Patient Needs Fund provides financial assistance for the urgent needs of patients during a health-related crisis. Medical social workers and case management staff identify and approve financial assistance through this fund, based on patient needs. Immediate assistance is often provided until other resources can be arranged in partnership with other human services agencies.

Help provided through the Patient Needs Fund includes:

  • Gas cards, which allow patients to travel to and from home for medical appointments.
  • Assistance with groceries, medications, rent/mortgage payments, utilities.
