Radiology Turnaround Time Updates

At Munson Healthcare, we understand that waiting for imaging results can be stressful. Patients and families are often waiting for important answers about their health, and we recognize the uncertainty that can create.
Munson Healthcare and Grand Traverse Radiologists continue to work together to improve turnaround times for non-urgent imaging studies while maintaining the high-quality care patients expect and deserve.
Current average turnaround times for non-urgent studies are approximately 5-6 days, with some imaging results taking longer.
Urgent and emergent imaging studies continue to be prioritized.
Actions Currently Underway
- Additional radiologists reading shifts
- Expanded weekend coverage
- Additional overnight reading support
- Increased contracted radiologist capacity
- Technology enhancements
- Recruitment of permanent radiologists
These efforts are already helping improve turnaround times and reduce the backlog of unread imaging studies. While additional improvement is needed, we are encouraged by the progress being made.
