Improving Health by Giving Back
We believe that good health starts in our communities. Guided by our Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) priorities, we invest in local organizations that share our commitment to creating healthier communities across Northern Michigan. These gifts help address critical needs such as access to care, mental health, food security, housing stability, and other social determinants of health.
Our Giving Strategy
- The goal of our Community Giving program is to strengthen community health through collaboration and shared purpose.
- We proactively work with area partners and non-profits to identify organizations and initiatives making a measurable impact.
- Funding decisions are led and approved by the Munson Healthcare Community and Population Health Committee, which includes community leaders, patients, and representatives from all hospital regions.

Recent Gifts
Through a two-year, $150,000 investment, Munson Healthcare helped Goodwill Northern Michigan purchase a new delivery truck—expanding its food rescue routes to collect more surplus food and distribute it to over ***XX*** local pantries.
An ongoing $60,000 contribution helps support a Community Health Worker to work 1:1 with individuals and help connect them with basic needs, such as housing, transportation, childcare, food, and more.
Contributions at food pantries in Charlevoix, Benzie, Manistee, Crawford, and Otsego Counties help expand food access to individuals and families facing food insecurity, ensuring they have reliable access to nutritious meals.
A $5,000 investment in Club Cadillac supported expansion of their Transitional Employment program where individuals with mental ***disabilities [is this the right term?]*** receive the training and support needed to re-enter the workforce.
