Early Childhood Services in Kalkaska
Kalkaska Memorial Health Center is pleased to provide educational opportunities for young children in our community. Programs are available for children from birth through 12 years of age. We also offer Summer Camp services for children in kindergarten through 12 years old.
KMHC Child Development Center and Preschool
Childcare and preschool services are available for the children of Kalkaska Memorial Health Center employees, as well as children in our community.
Our Child Development Center and Preschool participates in the state’s Great Start Readiness Program and the federal Head Start Program – both promote school readiness of children in low-income families. Head Start and Great Start Readiness Program scholarships are available for children ages 3 to 5 years old. Families that do not qualify for these programs are welcome to join the program and pay tuition.
Located in the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, we are open Monday through Friday from 6 am - 6 pm.
All of our staff receive annual continuing education related to early childhood and are certified in first aid and CPR. Our lead teachers also are certified in child development and/or have at least an associate’s degree in early childhood development.

Bellaire Preschool and Kids Club
Located in the John R. Rodgers Elementary School in Bellaire, Mich., we offer year-round Head Start scholarships and tuition-based preschool services to children ages 3 years to 6 years. We also offer Great Start Readiness Program scholarships for 4 year olds. Our before-school and after-school care (Kid’s Club) and Summer Camp are open to children attending John R. Rodgers Elementary for Kindergarten through fifth grade (12 years of age).
