A Special Message from Ed Ness

A person in a suit and tieDescription automatically generated with medium confidenceGood afternoon,

As you might know, we experienced a tragedy in Gaylord yesterday. A powerful tornado destroyed buildings, injured dozens and unfortunately lives were lost within minutes. The impact is overwhelming and will be felt in the days, weeks, and months to come.

Munson Healthcare has a long history of serving during moments of crisis, and yesterday was no exception. From the moment the tornado touched down, our Healthcare Team immediately engaged in our crisis response plans to protect our staff and patients while treating the injured at Otsego Memorial Hospital. I would like to extend my thanks to the OMH team for serving in the epicenter of the crisis with unwavering commitment.

Additionally, our network of community hospitals and system support mobilized to provide resources, supplies and patient transfers. Our quick response ensured the 23 patients that were treated between Otsego Memorial Hospital and Grayling Hospital received the expert and immediate care they needed, even amid the chaos of a tornado, impassable roads, and continued power outages.

As the days unfold, we will no doubt hear stories of the heroic actions within our Munson Healthcare walls and in the community. These are unprecedented times, but we continue to stand strong for the communities we serve.

Please join me in prayers and thoughts for all those affected by yesterday’s events and accept my gratitude for your continued support and compassionate care of our patients and community
