FAQs (Click or Tap to Open):
Is it normal to get up several times a night to use the bathroom?
Nighttime urination becomes more common with age, but it isn't something you have to live with. Frequent trips to the bathroom can be a sign of an enlarged prostate or another treatable condition.
Does an enlarged prostate mean I have cancer?
No. An enlarged prostate, also called BPH, is a common condition that occurs as men age and is not cancerous. However, some symptoms can overlap, which is why an evaluation is important.
I'm worried about losing my independence. Can treatment help?
Many men seek treatment because urinary symptoms begin affecting sleep, travel, hobbies, or daily activities. Treatment can often improve bladder emptying, reduce bathroom trips, and help restore quality of life.
Will I need surgery?
Many prostate conditions can be managed with medication, monitoring, or minimally invasive procedures. Surgery is recommended only when it is the most appropriate option for your condition.
What happens if my PSA level is elevated?
An elevated PSA does not automatically mean you have prostate cancer. Your urologist may recommend additional testing, repeat monitoring, imaging, or a prostate biopsy depending on your individual situation.
