High-Sensitivity Troponin Implementation
General Information
Munson Healthcare transitioned to a new cardiac troponin assay — High-Sensitivity Troponin (hs-TnI) assay — in April 2022.
Most patients presenting to an Emergency Department with a chief complaint of chest pain are not actually having an acute coronary syndrome event. The hs-TnI lab assay allows faster, more accurate information about cardiac injury, facilitating quicker intervention for those who are high risk and actually experiencing a cardiac event and quicker rule-out and discharge for low risk patients.
