Patient Resources
Pre-screening: Some neurosurgeons require a referral from a physician. Whether or not you have received a referral, please contact the neurosurgeon’s office to learn what tests or information will be needed before your first appointment. In some instances, a recent (within the last three months) MRI of the involved area is required.
Insurance: Please contact your neurosurgeon’s office for insurances accepted.

Physician Appointments
Traverse City-based neurosurgeon Thomas C. Schermerhorn, M.D., is also on the University of Michigan (U-M) Medical School faculty. Dr. Schermerhorn serves as an adjunct clinical assistant professor in the U-M Department of Neurosurgery. He performs clinical duties in Ann Arbor and assists in the leadership development of residents in neurosurgery. Dr. Schermerhorn completed his residency at Mayo Medical School in 2004.
