Nominate an Outstanding Respiratory Therapist at Munson Healthcare

All respiratory therapists at Munson Healthcare provide excellent care. Sometimes, you may feel your respiratory therapist has gone above and beyond his or her duties in caring for you. If you are inspired by your respiratory therapist’s exemplary care, you may honor him or her with a PHIL Award nomination. Each year, one respiratory therapist from each Munson Healthcare region is selected for the PHIL Award.

What is The PHIL Award?

The PHIL Award™ (Pulmonary Health & Illnesses of the Lungs) is the only nationally recognized hospital-based program that honors respiratory therapists, as nominated by patients, their family members, and other caregivers.

The FACES Foundation's program to recognize exemplary respiratory care. The FACES Foundation is a Michigan-based national non-profit organization, founded in 2006 by Sharman Lamka in memory of her husband, Philip C. Lamka. Phil died as a result of complications from Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD).

The PHIL Award™ honors respiratory therapists who provide Munson Healthcare patients suffering from respiratory illness with exceptional care. This exemplary professional sees the ‘person’ instead of the ‘patient’, and is committed to the belief that every breath matters. These respiratory therapists consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care. They are recognized as outstanding role models in our clinical community.

Each PHIL Award honoree receives:

  • A beautiful certificate.
  • An award sculpture entitled “Appreciation” which was adapted by creator MK Shannon especially for The PHIL Award.
