About the Munson Family Medicine Residency Program

The Munson Family Medicine Residency Program integrates osteopathic and allopathic medicine together, with the resources of Munson Medical Center, a regional referral center repeatedly recognized for high quality care. This dual accreditation 6/6/6 program accepts both DO and MD trainees.

The COVID 19 pandemic posed many challenges and brought many changes to health care and medical education.  What has not changed is the need to continue training family medicine physicians for a broad scope of practice.

The American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Family Medicine Review Committee (FMRC) updated and implemented the standards used to guide family medicine training effective July 1, 2023.  This change put more emphasis on continuity and patient panel management in the ambulatory clinic as well as population health and community medicine. What did not change was the continued need for hospital medicine training and obstetrical training to competency for residents with that interest.

The Munson Family Medicine Residency remains uniquely positioned to continue to provide full scope of practice family medicine training, preparing residents for any type of practice, including that in a more rural setting.  We continue to have outstanding staff, faculty, and facilities to support this education.  Finally, we continue to match amazing residents committed to the mission of the program that are a joy with whom to work.
