FDA Grants Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine EUA for Ages 12-15
05.11.2021

Yesterday, the FDA announced that it has expanded the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to include adolescents aged 12 to 15. The FDA has updated the Fact Sheets for Healthcare Providers Administering the Vaccine (Vaccination Providers) and for Recipients and Caregivers with information to reflect the use of the vaccine in the adolescent population, including the benefits and risks of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is meeting on May 12 and will likely give a recommendation on the use of Pfizer in this age group.

The EUA was discussed today on our weekly virtual press conference. Dr. Christine Nefcy, Chief Medical Officer, Munson Healthcare was joined by local high school students who provided their perspective on COVID-19 and the vaccine.
