Munson Healthcare is thrilled to announce the expansion of its state-of-the-art Simulation Lab (Sim Lab) from Munson Medical Center to Cadillac Hospital, marking a significant investment in clinical education, hospital preparedness, and patient safety across the region.

The Munson Simulation Lab is an innovative training facility where healthcare professionals engage in realistic clinical scenarios using high-fidelity manikins—life-like computerized patients capable of blinking, breathing, speaking, and even simulating childbirth.

This immersive environment allows doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other clinical staff to practice procedures, decision-making, and teamwork without any risk to real patients.

“We’re excited to bring the Simulation Lab to Cadillac Hospital—it’s a big step forward for our team and the care we provide,” said Peter Marinoff, Cadillac Hospital Community President. “Having this kind of hands-on training right here means our staff can keep building their skills and stay ready for whatever comes through our doors.”

The newly established Sim Lab at Cadillac Hospital features:

  • Two fully equipped patient simulation rooms
  • One high-fidelity adult manikin and one high-fidelity baby manikin
  • A low-fidelity adult manikin for skills training
  • A practice crash cart and various task trainers, including IV start arms
  • Full simulation design and support services provided by the MHC Simulation Team

“The mission of the Munson Healthcare Simulation Program is to advance the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care throughout our system,” said Lauren Holland, Senior Coordinator of Simulation Education. “By integrating simulation technologies and best practices into multidisciplinary training, we create a collaborative, interactive, and transformative learning environment. Our team is excited to bring this kind of hands-on simulation experience to Cadillac and to support the health and well-being of the community through innovative education and training.”

The expansion to Cadillac Hospital enables local staff to access simulation equipment daily—equipment that previously had to be shipped in. This proximity allows for tailored educational experiences and fosters a culture of continuous learning and safety. Staff have been trained to operate the high-fidelity manikins independently, ensuring ongoing simulation opportunities even when the central team is off-site.

Along with hands-on lab training, the Simulation Team also runs real-time practice scenarios right in patient care areas—like Code Blue drills and emergency response exercises—to help staff stay sharp and improve how critical situations are managed.

This initiative underscores Munson Healthcare’s commitment to clinical excellence and its dedication to equipping healthcare professionals with the tools and training they need to deliver exceptional care.
