Lung Nodule Referral Program and Clinic

The Munson Medical Center Lung Nodule Referral Program allows primary care physicians or specialists to refer patients to a multidisciplinary team including Pulmonology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Interventional Radiology, and Oncology experts. Our goal is to provide expedited risk assessment, diagnostic work-up, and treatment planning with a patient navigator facilitating the process.

Starting Thurs., Dec. 11, patients requiring expedited evaluation will be seen in a dedicated Lung Nodule Clinic housed at the Cowell Family Cancer Center in Traverse City. 

Referral Guidelines

  1. Pulmonary nodule >8mm, particularly if risk factors for malignancy
    • Significant smoking history
    • Growth over time
    • Spiculated
    • Family history of lung cancer
    • History of other types of cancer with concern for metastatic disease
  2. Lung RADS 4 on low-dose CT scan
  3. When in doubt, refer it out!
