Rapid Psychiatric Support for Patients of All Ages

Psychiatric Urgent Care is your partner when patients need more support than primary care can provide but may not require hospitalization. We offer rapid psychiatric evaluation, crisis assessment, medication management, and short-term follow-up for children, adolescents, and adults. Our team can help stabilize patients, bridge care while they await specialty services, support post-hospitalization transitions, assist with LAI continuation, and collaborate with PCPs on transition care of back once patients are stable.

Why Psychiatric Urgent Care?

Many providers are unaware that Psychiatric Urgent Care:

• Serves children, adolescents, and adults
• Offers short-term medication management
• Provides support after psychiatric hospitalization
• Assists with Long-Acting Injectable (LAI) continuation and bridging
• Partners with PCPs for stabilization and mental health needs
•  Evaluates patients who may require inpatient psychiatric hospitalization

When Should I Refer?

Consider Psychiatric Urgent Care when:

• You need help determining whether inpatient psychiatric hospitalization is necessary.
• A patient is experiencing worsening psychiatric symptoms.
• Psychiatric medications are causing side effects or treatment goals are not being achieved.
• Complex psychiatric condition is suspected.
• A patient is waiting for outpatient psychiatric services.
• A patient has recently discharged from psychiatric hospitalization and needs follow-up support.
• A patient requires assistance with Long-Acting Injectable (LAI) medications.

How We Support Primary Care Providers

Psychiatric Urgent Care can provide:

• Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
• Crisis assessments
• Short-term medication management
• Assessment of medication side effects and treatment failures
• Evaluation of complex psychiatric presentations
• Follow-up after psychiatric hospitalization
• Consult and supplement care while patients await outpatient psychiatry
• LAI continuation and bridging
• Following discharge from inpatient psychiatric care, Psychiatric Urgent Care may provide up to one or two follow-up visits to bridge care until the patient can resume treatment with their primary care provider

Pediatric Services

Psychiatric Urgent Care serves children and adolescents as well as adults.

Services include:

• Psychiatric evaluations
• Crisis assessments
• Medication evaluation and management
• Short-term stabilization and follow-up
• Inpatient level-of-care assessments
• Consultation services for pediatric providers

Services not provided

• ADHD testing
• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) testing
• Comprehensive neuropsychological testing
• Initiation of controlled substance

What to Expect

Hours

Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

Patients are encouraged to arrive early.

Visit Process

Patients may spend more than an hour at Psychiatric Urgent Care due to the comprehensive nature of the evaluation.

Patients are typically seen by:

1. Social Worker
2. Registered Nurse
3. Psychiatrist

Access to Care

Patients may walk in directly for services.

While psychiatric provider capacity is limited each day, our goal is to provide same-day or next-day psychiatric evaluations whenever possible.

Crisis social work services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even when psychiatric appointments are full, patients can still receive crisis assessment, safety planning, and connection to appropriate resources.
