Diabetes Education: 231-258-3623

Our diabetes self-management course can help you learn how to live well with diabetes. People who complete this program have a better understanding of diabetes, are able to make changes to improve their health, develop skills to manage their diabetes, and typically see a reduction of their A1C. A referral is required. After receiving your referral, a diabetes educator will develop a care plan to meet your specific needs and schedule you for two group classes. During the two-part course, you will learn:

  • Basics about diabetes and how it affects your body
  • How to choose healthy food
  • Ways to be active
  • How to safely take medication
  • How to monitor your blood sugar
  • How to problem solve
  • Healthy ways to cope
  • How to reduce your risk

Our expert audiologists specialize in hearing loss, balance disorders, and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). They use the latest sophisticated technology to diagnose and treat hearing conditions, including finding the perfect fit with the best hearing aids.

Cardiologists and nurse practitioners from Traverse Heart & Vascular provide preventive, diagnostic, and testing services. If your physician refers you for a consultation or cardiac evaluation, we can do a full diagnostic work-up here in Prudenville so you don’t have to travel to Traverse City. We can perform tests quickly, often within a few days of your provider’s request. And our staff provides a safe, comfortable experience during your evaluation.

Open daily including holidays, 7 am - 11 pm

No appointment needed (except for glucose tolerance tests). Simply bring your physician’s order and insurance information. Your results will be sent to your doctor quickly, usually within 24 hours. We provide the newest lab procedures and technologies, efficient services, and we talk you through your test to make sure you’re comfortable and well-informed. 

Outpatient Surgery: 231-258-3639

Kalkaska Memorial Surgical Services offers elective outpatient surgery and procedures in our state-of-the-art surgical suite. Enjoy high-quality, individualized care close to the comfort of your own home. Following your procedure, rest for a while in recovery, and then take the short ride home. Our surgical services include:

  • Ear, nose, and throat (nasal endoscopy, ear tubes, septoplasty, tonsil and adenoid removal)
  • Gastroenterology (colonoscopy, upper endoscopy)
  • Eye surgery (cataract removal, eyelid surgery)

Our team is committed to providing progressive, innovative outpatient rehab services to the Kalkaska community. Our team includes physical and occupational therapists, therapy assistants, and certified exercise instructors who specialize in post-operative orthopedic, post-stroke rehabilitation and aqua therapy. Patients should park in the main parking lot across from the entrance on Coral Street and use the main entrance or ambulance entrance. Our services include:
