A Letter from the Munson Medical Center Foundation Board Chair

A great sequence in the good sequel Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade has Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr informing his class: "Archeology is the search for fact, not truth. If it's truth you're interested in, Dr. Tyree's philosophy class is just down the hall."

Truth is subjective, yes, but shared truths are important.

So, some truth:

  1. We humans are flawed creatures.
  2. Love is an answer.
  3. Munson Healthcare improves lives.

How You Improved Lives at Munson Medical Center in the Past Year

You helped us expand surgical services.

We are grateful for your support of the surgical expansion and renovation at Munson Medical Center.

Thanks to you, patients now have access to four brand-new and two completely renovated state-of-the-art Operating Rooms. The new facility includes the most advanced operating theater of its kind in the country, a huge draw for recruiting and retaining vascular surgeons.

Thanks to you, our local hospital is well-positioned to meet the growing needs of our community and ensure the longevity of surgical care in northern Michigan.

You helped bring stroke care to northern Michigan.

Alongside the expansion and renovation of our surgical rooms, your support in the past year has provided individuals across northern Michigan access to stroke care intervention.

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association recently honored Munson Medical Center with its 2021 Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Award along with the Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite Award. This is the eighth consecutive year Munson Medical Center has been recognized with the Gold Plus Award, and this recognition reflects our community and our healthcare team’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the best possible care close to home.

We recently opened our second endovascular care suite featuring another Artis Icono Biplane. We are now the only hospital in the country to have two of these machines, which provide greater capacity to perform life-saving interventions and preserve quality of life for stroke patients across northern Michigan. Having access to the best possible technology and physicians possible would not be possible without you.

Your support is making it possible to save lives right now in our community and across northern Michigan.

Your support will make a difference to our littlest patients.

Later this year we will be breaking ground on a new Family Birth and Children’s Center. While COVID-19 delayed the start of this exciting project, creating this state-of-the-art facility has remained a top priority.

From caring for our littlest patients to ensuring the safest delivery possible, your support is so important in providing the best possible care for families in northern Michigan. We are so grateful for your generosity and patience during this time and will keep you updated as we finalize details.

The past two years have been trying for our hospitals and our healthcare team members. We are grateful to you for all you’ve done to improve lives of patients and families.

Throughout this pandemic, you’ve done your part to keep healthcare strong here in northern Michigan.

Thank you for all you’ve done, and continue to do, for Munson Healthcare!
