Medical Control Authorities

A Medical Control Authority is an organization designated by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services to supervise and coordinate a specific emergency medical services system. Each Medical Control Authority has an advisory board and a medical director who is board certified in emergency medicine or practices emergency medicine. The Medical Control Authority establishes written protocols for the practice of life support and EMS personnel, and ensures that physicians, hospital staff, and providers are educated on the protocols.
