High-Sensitivity Troponin Implementation

General Information

Munson Healthcare will be transitioning to a new cardiac troponin assay in 2022. The High-Sensitivity Troponin (hs-TnI) assay will be replacing our current Troponin lab series beginning April 12, 2022.

Most patients presenting to an Emergency Department with a chief complaint of chest pain are not actually having an acute coronary syndrome event. The hs-TnI lab assay allows faster, more accurate information about cardiac injury, facilitating quicker intervention for those who are high risk and actually experiencing a cardiac event and quicker rule-out and discharge for low risk patients.
