All COVID-19 testing (including pre-procedural) is now being conducted in-house and not sent to outside reference laboratories. This is great news as it will reduce our overall turn-around time for COVID-19 testing.
Pre-Procedural COVID-19 Testing
Until we can fine-tune our internal processes, the pre-procedural COVID-19 specimen collection process has not changed and must occur 4 days prior to the scheduled procedure for all MHC specimen collection locations (for example, for a procedure occurring on Wednesday, the patient should have their COVID-19 specimen collected on Saturday). We are working to reduce pre-procedural COVID-19 testing to 3 days prior to the procedure and will let you know once we’re ready for that transition. Not knowing a patient’s COVID-19 status prior to a procedure puts the safety of our patients, providers, and staff at risk and can result in delaying or cancelling the procedure.
