Providers are encouraged to evaluate COVID-positive patients for Paxlovid (ritonavir-boosted nirmatrelvir) prior to referring for treatment with a COVID-19 monoclonal antibody therapy (i.e., Sotrovimab, Bebtelovimab). Contraindications to Paxlovid include certain drug interactions, eGFR < 30 mL/min, and Child Pugh class C.
When selecting a course of treatment for patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19, please refer to MHC COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Table 1 for preferential order of COVID medications per NIH Guidelines including criteria, fact sheets, availability, indications, eligibility, prioritization, timing, route, contraindications, and drug interactions.
The treatment window for both Sotrovimab and Bebtelovimab is 7 days.
How to Refer Patients for Monoclonal Antibody Therapy
- Providers can easily refer COVID-positive patients who would like to receive mAb therapy by using our secure, online mAb patient referral form.
- Patients can also self-refer by calling 231-935-4880..
- Please do not direct your patients to call Ask-A-Nurse to schedule mAb therapy.
- After receiving a referral, the mAb Therapy Team will contact the COVID-positive patient within 1-3 business days either to schedule an appointment or to notify them that no appointment is available.
- Referring providers will receive a fax if your patient is unable to be treated.
- We have consolidated all mAb therapy for COVID-positive patients to the Traverse City mAb clinic. Transportation is available for those patients who live outside the Grand Traverse County area.
