Foster Family Community Center Urgent Care and Virtual Urgent Care to remain open
Munson Healthcare announced today that it will consolidate Urgent Care Services on April 17, 2026 to one location at the Foster Family Community Health Center. Virtual Urgent Care will also remain open. The healthcare system also announced the closure of Urgent Care West on US-31.
“We’re pleased to continue offering reliable, quality care at both our Foster Family Urgent Care location in Traverse City and through our Virtual Urgent Care option,” said Michael Frye, MD, Munson Physician Network President. “This decision was made following a careful evaluation of community needs, patient volumes, and staffing sustainability with our patients, care teams, and the long‑term health of Munson in mind.”
Over time, Urgent Care West has experienced lower patient volumes and ongoing staffing challenges. In a market where demand does not support multiple locations, continuing operations created strain on staffing and resources. Importantly, all Urgent Care West employees are being offered other positions in other Munson Healthcare roles, ensuring continuity of employment and supporting care teams across the system.
Patients who typically use Urgent Care West are encouraged to visit Foster Family Community Center Urgent Care at 550 Munson Avenue, Traverse City, Mich, which will continue operations with expanded ability to meet community needs.
“We invite all patients and visitors to see us at Foster Family Community Center Urgent Care which is a recently upgraded facility and has a tremendous team ready to care for you,” added Dr. Frye.
Additional urgent care and emergency services remain available throughout the Munson Healthcare system. Munson’s Virtual Urgent Care is also available at munsonhealthcare.org/virtualurgentcare.
