A new Magnetom Sola MRI machine was installed earlier this month at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital and is ready for patient use. This $2.7 million investment is part of Munson Healthcare’s Regional Care Transformation plan and commitment to expanding outpatient services in Grayling and its surrounding Northern Michigan communities.

The new MRI will enhance patient comfort due to its design and provide physicians with high-quality technical images important for determining a care plan. The new and faster technology allows Munson to keep pace with rapidly evolving medical imaging, all while ensuring no radiation exposure to patients. Additionally, the new MRI features a larger bore, allowing Munson to better accommodate plus-size patients and provide local care, reducing transfers to other MRI locations.

“The new MRI is a win-win for providers and patients as it allows us to get the highest-level images with the ability to serve an expanded patient population, resulting in optimal patient care close to home,” said Dr. Ryan Overby, Grand Traverse Radiologists, on medical staff at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Munson Healthcare is committed to investing in the Grayling Hospital and community.
