Munson Healthcare is pleased to announce the expansion of outpatient rehabilitation services with our world class partner, Mary Free Bed. Effective January 11, Mary Free Bed rehab at Munson Healthcare services expanded through a management contract to include Manistee Hospital’s Community Health Center. A similar contract is pending for the POMH-based programs.
Esther Sigurdardottir, PT, has been named as the Program Director of Rehabilitation services at Manistee. Esther has been the Director for the Manistee program since 2003. Prior to joining the Manistee team, she was a supervisor at the rehab program in Cadillac for 10 years. Esther has transitioned employment from Alliance Physical Therapy to Mary Free Bed. Esther’s new focus will be clinical and business operations, and market growth. Once the POMH contract is signed, those programs will fall under Esther’s leadership.
Adrienne Stephen-Jones and Derek Migazzi will continue in leadership roles and report up through Esther. Their transition to Mary Free Bed employment will occur in early March. Adrienne and Derek will lead clinical operations at the four sites: both hospital sites as well as the Benzonia, Empire, and Interlochen locations. They will continue to focus on the development of new programs, community engagement, and direct patient care.
Non-management rehab staff will continue their employment with POMH or Manistee Hospital. Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital has enjoyed a positive relationship with Alliance Physical Therapy Partners, however, the transition to Mary Free Bed will strategically align both Paul Oliver Memorial and Manistee Hospitals with the Munson Healthcare system and allow for the expansion of additional services.
Mary Free Bed brings access to hundreds of providers and specialty programs for medical and sports rehabilitation. Combined with our existing team of outstanding therapists and support staff, northern Michigan will enjoy the benefits of world class care close to home. Equally important, patients will maintain the unique relationships established with the therapists they know and trust.
The rehab program at Charlevoix Hospital has been operating under a similar, provisionary management agreement for several months. It is expected that this agreement will become permanent in early March. Look for additional external announcements and marketing promotions shortly for Manistee and in March for POMH and Charlevoix.
