Expanding outpatient specialty care outreach seeks to improve accessibility in rural areas
Munson Healthcare is pleased to announce the opening of an Outpatient Specialty Care Clinic in Elk Rapids on Monday, February 16 as part of ongoing efforts to provide greater access and convenience to patients.
The clinic, located at 115 Bridge Street in Elk Rapids, will now offer consultation in three different specialty areas in addition to existing lab services. Neurologists, Nick Zendler, DO and Anne Pawlak, DO, Neurosurgeon, John Campbell, MD, and Rheumatologist, Nicole Tramontini-Gunn, MD will now see patients at the location.
“Transportation is one of the greatest barriers in rural healthcare,” said Laura Glenn, Chief Operating Officer of Munson Healthcare. “We’ve seen how specialty outreach in a variety of areas has benefited patients in many of our communities and we’re excited to be expanding this access to our specialists in Neurosciences and Rheumatology.”
While Munson Medical Center in Traverse City remains the hub for most treatments, surgical procedures, and diagnostics in Neurology and Rheumatology, this new specialty clinic represents a broader initiative to improve accessibility and convenience for patients.
“We’re excited to bring this to our neighbors in Elk Rapids and continue to recruit specialists to Northern Michigan with a goal of expanding access to these types of services in our outlying communities,” added Glenn.
Lab services at the clinic are available Monday-Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm. Patients can speak to their primary care provider about a referral or direct questions to each of the specialties at the phone numbers below:
