Munson Healthcare (MHC) announced today that Matt Wille, President and CEO of Munson Medical Center (MMC), will be leaving to pursue a new leadership role outside of the system.

Wille has accepted a position as Chief Operating Officer at ThedaCare in Wisconsin, putting him much closer to his family. He joined Munson Medical Center in 2019 and helped guide the organization through three years of a global pandemic.

“We are grateful for Matt’s leadership in advancing Munson Medical Center as a high-level specialty care hospital recognized among Fortune’s Top 100 Hospitals and receiving a CMS Five-Star rating multiple times during his tenure,” said Laura Glenn, Munson Healthcare Chief Operating Officer. “His thoughtful, caring, and deliberate leadership style has been essential in helping us navigate the challenges of these last four years and he will be greatly missed.”

Munson Healthcare will now engage in a nationwide search for a new President of Munson Medical Center. Kathy Laraia, MHC Vice President of Oncology and Professional Services will serve as MMC President in the interim.

Laraia joined Munson Healthcare in 2015 as Executive Director of Cowell Family Cancer Center before being named Vice President of Oncology and Professional Services this past December. She began her career at St. John Providence Health System (now Ascension) in Warren, Michigan where she served as a Vice President and Administrative Director.

“Kathy brings 35 years of leadership experience in healthcare along with the tremendous energy and vision that has developed Cowell Family Cancer Center into a premier facility,” added Glenn. “We feel very fortunate to have such a strong leader step in during this transition and provide space for a thoughtful and thorough national search.”

Wille’s last day will be October 6.
