Munson Healthcare Appoints New Chief Information Officer

Munson Healthcare President and CEO Ed Ness recently announced the appointment of Michael Saad as chief information officer (CIO) for the health system.

Saad joins the health system from the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn. where he served as senior vice president and chief information officer. In 2022, he was the recipient of the Orbie Tennessee CIO of the Year Award and has been named twice consecutively to the Becker’s Healthcare “Top 100 CIOs to Know,” including in 2023. Saad also has worked at the healthcare consulting firm, TrustPoint Solutions, and previous to that was the vice president and chief technology officer and interim CIO for Henry Ford Health in Detroit.

“Michael has a proven track record of innovation and solutions-oriented leadership,” Ness said.

Saad was born and raised in Michigan and is married with three children.

“I am excited to join Munson Healthcare and help lead the digital transformation with the focus on providing better access and care to the residents of northern Michigan,” he said. “It’s great to be back in my home state of Michigan.”

Saad received his MBA degree from Western Governors University and is a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. He is certified in LEAN and has been a national speaker at CNBC and Becker’s Healthcare conferences.
