A reminder that pre-procedural COVID-19 specimen collection must occur 4 days prior to the scheduled procedure (for example, for a procedure occurring on Wednesday, the patient should have their COVID-19 specimen collected on Saturday). Pre-procedural COVID-19 tests are NOT being conducted in-house. These are being sent to Spectrum and MI Health, which currently average a 40-hour turnaround time.
Not knowing a patient’s COVID-19 status prior to a procedure puts the safety of our patients, providers, and staff at risk and can result in delaying or cancelling the procedure.
