Grayling Hospital Maternal and Newborn Center

Each year, over 300 babies are born in Grayling Hospital’s Maternal and Newborn Center. For that reason, a new mother and her baby are often the only patients assigned to a nurse. Mom and baby benefit from the nurse’s full attention, allowing plenty of time for questions to be answered and parenting tips to be shared from experienced staff who have helped welcome thousands of babies into the world.

Personalized care and a “birth your way” model allows you to design the birth experience you want. Our medical team believes birth is a natural process and allows time for that process to occur. Medical staff is always available and fully equipped to intervene if complications arise.

Maternal and Newborn Center Staff

Our Maternal and Newborn Center staff keeps current with the most up-to-date care for moms and babies. Our obstetricians, family practice physicians, and pediatricians will guide you in planning the labor and delivery of your baby. Our nursing staff and obstetricians are certified in perinatal continuing education and neonatal resuscitation.

Safe Infant Monitoring

Mom and newborn baby

New parents are encouraged to have skin-to-skin contact for the first two hours after birth. After that, state-of-the-art GE Panda Warmers are available for use, giving infants a safe place to be monitored during the first critical hours of life as they adjust to breathing on their own. The warmers regulate the baby’s body temperature, monitor blood oxygen levels, and help staff monitor and screen infants for any heart or respiratory complications.

Quiet, Peaceful Surroundings

Private patient rooms on the hospital’s second floor overlook the scenic AuSable River, giving laboring and new mothers a serene, peaceful place to bond with their baby.
