Mammography Equipment Upgrades

Digital breast tomosynthesis, also know as 3D mammography, is a revolutionary new screening and diagnostic breast imaging tool. This new breast imaging technique provides much clearer images of abnormalities within dense breast tissue, and reduces "false alarms" and patient callbacks for additional imaging by up to 40 percent. The ability to detect breast cancer at an earlier stage will ultimately save more lives. By having 3D mammography, Otsego Memorial Hospital will be able to provide the right care in the right place.

The total project cost to purchase three new mammography units, including 3D Tomosynthesis Mammography for Otsego Memorial Hospital and OMH Medical Group - Lewiston Clinic is $1,100,000. We need your help to raise $400,000 toward this purchase.

Patient Needs

The Patient Needs Fund provides financial assistance for the urgent needs of patients during a health-related crisis. Medical social workers and case management staff identify and approve financial assistance through this fund, based on patient needs. Immediate assistance is often provided until other resources can be arranged in partnership with other human services agencies.

Help provided through the Patient Needs Fund includes:

  • Gas cards, which allow patients to travel to and from home for medical appointments.
  • Assistance with groceries, medications, rent/mortgage payments, utilities.
